Today is the 4th of July in the USA… that means fireworks, hot dogs, talkin’ about freedom and independence and whatever America means to you!
Today is the 5th of July in Australia… that means it’s Sunday.
On the 4th of July (the 3rd in the US) the husband, Little Moo and I headed to a bit of an expats Independence Day pot luck in Sydney.
Husband and I donned our red, white and blue while the Moo showcased her independence and went with a star.
I was asked to bring fruit.
Heck YEAH it’s in the shape of our nation’s flag! Because… ‘Murica!
Upon our arrival, and being a two-year-old, Little Moo was immediately able to make friends.
Having a balloon doesn’t hurt either.
Though, before this video was taken, the Moo yanked this same balloon away from a few babies and did not enjoy the festivities as much when her new companion wanted to be the leader and have the Moo chase her…
So, I guess being two enables the Moo to make instant enemies too.
But that’s what being two is all about, right?
Two-year-olds are the original frenemies.
Husband and I had a chance to chat with a few fellow Americans and their spouses. Some people had just arrived in Sydney, some had been there for years. Some were making Sydney their permanent home while others would be there for a few years. And then there was us… just in town for three months. It feels incredibly long to Husband and me… but in the scheme of things, it’s just a blink of an eye.
I’m hoping the people we met today will become our friends… not our frenemies.
Guess I have to get me some balloons.
Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans!
More to come,
